The homeowner's goal was to allow more natural light into their kitchen as well as adding a larger door for moving bulky items, like furniture or appliances, in and out of the house. Unger Construction recommended an ADA compliant vinyl slider to provide a large clear opening to meet the homeowner's specific needs.

A vinyl slider that matched the existing vinyl windows was chosen as well as low maintenance PVC trim on the exterior. On the interior, stain grade wood was used to match the existing natural wood charm of the house.

A custom vinyl slider was ordered, which took about 3 weeks to arrive. One standard size window, a single entry door, and part of the exterior wall were removed to create one large opening. The old door and window were removed and the new slider installed in one day. The following two days were used to make all the finishing touches that make a project like this blend into the existing house as if it was part of the original design.

Total project time was three days from start to finish.
